The Ingersoll-Rand award is given for civil merits and design innovation. The Concepción dam stands out for the fact that it allowed the dramatic water crisis in the city of Tegucigalpa in Honduras to be resolved in record time and limited costs. The plant’s technological content is also significant given that it was one of the first to be built using RCC, a technique in the use of which Astaldi can boast considerable experience.
